Platform presentations details

Platform presentations will be divided into three sessions. Each presenter will have 15 minutes for their talk and 5 minutes for Q&A.

Data Blitz presentation instructions

Those presenters invited to present in the Poster Data Blitz session should prepare their slides following these instructions:

a) Presenters will be given 4 minutes during the data blitz session to introduce the data that they will later present during the poster session. The purpose of the data blitz session is for poster presenters to entice those attending the retreat to visit their posters, NOT to present complete results. Please keep to the strict 4 minute time limit so that everyone will have time to present.

b) For the data blitz, trainees should prepare 4 Power Point slides:

  • The first slide should contain the title, the names of all authors on their poster, the institution(s) where the research was performed and any acknowledgements/funding sources.
  • The second slide should contain an overview of the background to the study and the key question being addressed.
  • The third slide should contain brief information about the experimental design used to address the question (you can use a diagram, timeline and/or bullet points).
  • The fourth slide should contain ONE figure OR photo (only one photo or figure will be permitted). Presenters should not attempt to communicate all of their findings during the data blitz. Instead, the goal of the presentation should be to advertise their work and tempt attendees to visit their poster presentation where they can deliver their take-home message.

Data Blitz Slides will be uploaded through a separate link to be distributed to all poster presenters.

Poster presentation details

Poster boards will be 4ft x 6ft in size; posters should be prepared to fit within this area.

Posters will be put up prior to the start of the meeting on Thursday (between 10 a.m. and noon) or during the first break. They will be removed after dinner Thursday evening.
