Hospital MedicineHospital medicine is a rapidly emerging discipline concerned with the general medical care of hospitalized patients. The division's activities include patient care, teaching, research and leadership related to hospital care. The presence of hospitalists allows primary care physicians to focus on their office patients, and studies show that hospitalists help to reduce treatment costs, patient lengths of stay and improve overall efficiency of care.

Our division is involved in developing and managing many aspects of hospital operations such as patient safety, inpatient flow and quality assurance programs. The board-certified faculty members that have joined our division are notable not only for their strong backgrounds in general pediatrics and hospital medicine but for their interest in and commitment to the education of students, residents and fellows.

Mission:

  • The highest quality care for all hospitalized patients.
  • The program was designed to provide both continuity of care for the patient and family and continuity of instruction for the residents.
