Kate Carlson M.D.Dr. Kate Carlson, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, earned her undergraduate degree at Cornell University and her medical degree at Washington University in St. Louis. She completed her pediatric residency at Children’s Memorial Hospital at Northwestern University Medical Center in Chicago. 

Selected as a Katherine Dodd Faculty Scholars program (2011-2013), Dr. Carlson's scholarly work links quality improvement methodology with improved process and outcomes for largely underserved populations. Her work focuses on electronic medical record-based process improvement to standardize health maintenance screening and guidance consistent with American Academy of Pediatric guidelines. As a Spanish-speaking pediatrician, Dr. Carlson also works to create integrated discharge instructions in a variety of languages for the diverse population of pediatric patients served within the Pediatric Primary Care Clinic.
