Lisa Young to receive the American Thoracic Society Public Advisory Roundtable Excellence Award.

Lisa R. Young, M.D., an associate professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pulmonary Medicine, will receive this year's American Thoracic Society Public Advisory Roundtable Excellence Award.
"The PAR Excellence Award is given to a person who embodies a passion for patients, an innovative spirit and outstanding leadership skills," wrote Courtney White, a director with the ATS. "Dr. Young's exemplary service to patients with lung diseases and critical illnesses has been nothing short of admirable and praiseworthy."
The award will be presented during the ATS PAR symposium at the 2017 ATS International Conference. The symposium is Tuesday, May 23, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C.
Dr. Young is the director of the Rare Lung Diseases Program with clinics at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt and The Vanderbilt Clinic. She is also an associate professor in the Department of Medicine and the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology.
Dr. Young's laboratory-based and patient-oriented research focuses on genetic and interstitial lung diseases. A primary interest of her lab is the role of the alveolar epithelium and alveolar macrophages in the regulation of pulmonary inflammation and fibrosis.
