Webber Names Callahan Director of Adolescent and Young Adult Health
February 6, 2017

Todd Callahan, MD, MPHIt is my greatest pleasure to announce that Todd Callahan, M.D., MPH, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, has accepted my offer to serve as the Director of our Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Health within the Department of Pediatrics. Todd, who has been a faculty member at Vanderbilt since 2002, was selected as the Division Director after an extensive national search in which many of the national leaders we approached about potential candidates listed him as one of the most respected leaders in the field of Adolescent Health. We agreed with this assessment and are thus delighted that he will be taking on this important leadership role.

Todd has distinguished himself for his contributions to the field of eating disorders, particularly in his work at the state and national level. He has also contributed to our understanding of the importance of access to appropriate health care for adolescents as they transition to adulthood.

Todd is a superb clinician, teacher and universally respected among his colleagues for his thoughtfulness, compassion and generosity. Todd will assume his new duties as Division Director on March 1, 2017. We are grateful to Kathy Edwards, Bill Cooper, Sari Acra, Paul Moore and Kecia Carroll for their service on the search committee.

Finally, let me offer my deepest thanks to Lynn Walker, Ph.D., who has served faithfully and ably as the Division Director for almost 20 years. Lynn has been a stalwart member of our faculty for greater than three decades and her sustained commitment to excellence and scholarship continues to inspire all of us. Lynn will remain an active part of the Vanderbilt faculty, including her leadership of her internationally recognized research program studying chronic pain in adolescents.

Please join me in congratulating Todd on his appointment as Division Director and expressing our deep appreciation to Lynn for her dedication and service.
