A big thanks to faculty and staff throughout the Children’s enterprise during the transition to eStar. As we move from stabilization to optimization, priorities include InBaskets Medication Reconciliation, ePrescribing, and Communication with Community Providers. Additional instructions for these focus points are under development. We will communicate any updates in different forums.

New Cardio-oncology Clinic Opens
Justin Godown, M.D., assistant professor of Pediatrics, has developed a new Cardio-oncology Clinic in Pediatric Cardiology which seeks to provide comprehensive cardiovascular care across the spectrum of cancer treatment.
The Cardio-Oncology Clinic aims not only to evaluate and treat those cancer survivors with objective evidence of cardiac dysfunction, but to facilitate early cardiology involvement for patients at the highest risk of cardiovascular disease. In addition to providing recommended screening based on the Children’s Oncology Group guidelines, the clinic enables more comprehensive cardiac assessment by using advanced imaging techniques, exercise testing, ambulatory electrocardiography, and assessment of cardiac biomarkers.
A dedicated pediatric cardio-oncology program encourages cardiology involvement in the care of pediatric cancer patients and may aid in earlier identification of cardiovascular complications. It also provides a cardiology resource for the oncology team and other care providers, which may help to improve collaboration.
Please contact Pediatric Cardiology at (615) 322-7447 to refer to this important new clinic.
