Clinical Trials
Vanderbilt conducts research studies and clinical trials in various divisions throughout the Medical Center. These include the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, the Vanderbilt Vaccine Research Program, the Vanderbilt HIV Vaccine Trials Program, the Kennedy Center for Research on Human Development, the Clinical Trials Center, and the Clinical Research Center.

Clinical Trials Billing Compliance
This service, offered through the Department of Finance, aims to demonstrate the bottom line cost to complete a clinical trial at Vanderbilt, assist with contract negotiations and grant applications, demonstrate the intended payor for each procedure to be performed within the context of the clinical trial, and to ensure accurate billing compliance.

Coeus is a research administration program developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Office of Sponsored Programs. Over the years, Coeus has grown into a full fledged research proposal development and submission tool. Vanderbilt's implementation of Coeus has been customized to meet the particular requirements of the institution, and contains Vanderbilt's grant proposal and award information for the past 10 years.

Department of Pediatrics Grant Submission Timeline
This document provides the recommended time line for grant processing in order for proposals to be evaluated and constructively commented upon in efforts to optimize the potential for funding. The time frames indicated are in relation to established deadlines that are known well ahead of time, such as regular review cycles for the NIH, March of Dimes, and American Heart Association. These guidelines are not meant to be restrictive; many funding opportunities will arise, such as NIH Challenge Grants, or other RFAs, that may not allow the milestones to be followed. Incorporation of comments arising from the reviews is at the discretion of the principal investigator, and ongoing discussions are encouraged.

Grants and Contracts Management
Grants & Contracts Management (GCM), a division of the VUMC Office of Research, is the central office for all aspects of grant proposal review, electronic submission, grant and contract awards management, and contract negotiation with sponsors on behalf of Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC).

Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)
The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is a federally mandated university committee whose function is to ensure that the care and use of animals is appropriate and humane in accordance with animal welfare regulations. The IACUC establishes policy and procedure on animal care and use for the institution. (VUnet ID required)

Institutional Review Board
We currently have three IRBs that review biomedical/health science research and one IRB that reviews social/behavioral research. Committees meet weekly to discuss research proposals/protocols involving human participants. You are welcome to call or stop by with questions about an ongoing project or a new project that is in the planning stages.

PEER (Grants and Contracts Management)
PEER is a web-based information management tool for GCM. The Portal is designed as a view into PEER for Investigators and Administrators, which provides access to various Grants information. (VUnet ID required)
